Taura Beach, Scandola Nature Reserve, Corsica
Taura Beach Anchorage
Not to be used for navigationDIRECTIONS
There are rocks either side of this medium-sized bay but the center is clean with a gently shelving sand bottom. We anchored in 20'.DESCRIPTION
The bay is a fair weather anchorage only. It is completely open to the prevailing westerlies. That said we had an extremely quiet night here with no swell or rolling in early May. The bay is lovely with red-tinged cliffs around it and occasional hikers making their way across the beach, and usually stopping for a dip, en route to or from Girolata. There are actually three or four secluded small beaches in addition to the main section of beach. This bay is adjacent to the wonderful Scandola nature reserve. However we found (and removed) an inordinate amount of plastic rubbish on this beach. There was no rubbish on the hiking trails however and we concluded that this was all floating plastic that had most probably originated in Spain.GETTING ASHORE
The beach is sand or small pebbles at the shoreline, pull your dinghy up as far as you can and set an anchor on the beach.ASHORE
Once the plastic trash was removed from the beach, this was a lovely beach in a completely natural setting. All the beaches are mainly pebbles, one is comprised of only red and black pebbles,FACILITIES ASHORE
